The leader of the dark fairies (a chilling performance) claims to be Maleficent’s mother, and the truth forces Maleficent to question everything she knows about her origins.

Jolie is magnetic as always, bringing depth and vulnerability to the role. Fanning is lovely as Aurora, now a queen in her own right.
